Confirmation

It is evident from its celebration that the effect of the sacrament of Confirmation is the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost. (CCC 1302)

Confirmation completes and strengthens the grace first received in Baptism. Through the anointing with sacred chrism and the gift of the Holy Spirit, the faithful are sealed and empowered to live their faith with courage and conviction. This Sacrament deepens our communion with the Church and equips us to bear witness to Christ in both word and action. Confirmation is not a graduation from religious education, but a commissioning to live as mature disciples, guided by the Spirit and rooted in truth.

Please note:

  • Preparation for this sacrament is coordinated through our Office of Youth Ministry.
  • Candidates must attend a special preparation class, the fall retreat, and have performed service projects prior to the reception of the sacrament.
  • A copy of the candidate’s Baptism and First Holy Communion certificates must be presented at the time of sacramental registration.
