Religious Education at St. James the Apostle

Faith is a relationship with the living God, which, like all relationships, in order to thrive, must constantly be nurtured. Parents are the first teachers of their children in the ways of faith, and we are honored to support parents, children, youth, and all parishioners in their lifelong journey of faith. We offer a variety of programs for children aged four through high school to spread the good news of Jesus Christ through prayer, study, and action.

Our catechists, Middle School Leaders, and Youth Ministry Core Members generously volunteer their time and talents. They are the backbone of our catechetical ministry. We ask for your prayers and support for these men and women in this important ministry of sharing the faith with our children and teens.

“All authority in heaven and earth is given to me. Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations; baptize them in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I am with you always, yes, to the end of time."

Elementary Faith Formation

Our elementary faith formation program invites children in kindergarten through fifth grade to grow in their Catholic faith through age-appropriate lessons and prayer, helping them know, love, and live Jesus’ teachings as they prepare for the sacraments and participate fully in parish life each Sunday morning.

PreK 4 – 5th grade meet Sunday mornings at 9:45-10:45 AM.

EDGE

Our EDGE program is our middle school ministry for students in grades 6–8 that meets on Sunday afternoons. It gives young teens a safe, fun place to grow in the Catholic faith, find answers to their questions, build community with others, and experience Jesus in a personal way through prayer, teaching, and fellowship. The program includes weekly sessions, social activities, and opportunities to live out their faith in service as they prepare to continue deeper into parish life.

The EDGE program for middle school youth (6th-8th grade) meets Sunday afternoon from 12-1:30 PM in the parish hall.

Life Teen

The St. James Life Teen program invites students in grades 9–12 into a vibrant community where they can grow closer to Christ through engaging Life Nights rooted in prayer, scripture, and fellowship, Wednesday evening gatherings like Pizza and Prayer, special Adoration nights, retreats, leadership opportunities, service, and outreach that help teens live their faith more fully in the parish and the wider world.

Life Teen is for high school youth (9th-12th grade) and meets from 6 -8:00 pm in the parish hall on Sunday Evenings.
