Ultreya: Growing in Christ Together

The Cursillo Movement began in the 1940s in Mallorca, when a group of dedicated laypersons and priests envisioned a way to bring Christ more deeply into everyday life and to empower discipleship among lay Catholics. Since reaching the United States in the late 1950s, Cursillo has helped Catholics across the country strengthen their relationship with God and live out their baptismal call to evangelize.

In the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Cursillo retreats are held each spring and fall at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit.

Ultreya is the continuation of that grace.

At St. James the Apostle, Ultreya gathers those who have made a Cursillo weekend and desire to keep walking the journey together. We meet on the second Saturday of each month from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. for prayer, encouragement, and fellowship. These gatherings strengthen friendships rooted in Christ and help us remain faithful to the commitments we embraced on our retreat.

Ultreya is about perseverance in friendship and faith. The retreat may last a weekend, but discipleship unfolds day by day. Here at St. James, we walk that path together.
