  • What should I wear?

We want you to feel welcome and at ease when you join us! We want your attention to be on worship rather than attire. You’ll find a range of dress at our parish—from more casual attire to traditional and cultural “Sunday best.” We simply ask that clothing be comfortable and respectful of the sacredness of the Mass.

  • Am I expected to put money in the offering?

If you are visiting with us, there is no expectation for you to contribute to the offering, and you are welcome to let it pass by!

If you consider our parish your church home, we invite you to prayerfully consider supporting the parish on a weekly basis. Gifts may be made by cash or check during Mass, or through online giving here.

  • Do I have to be Catholic to attend Mass?

No. Everyone is welcome to attend Mass at St. James! Whether you are visiting, exploring the Catholic faith, or returning to church after time away, we are glad to welcome you.

  • Can I receive Communion?

Holy Communion is reserved for Catholics who are prepared to receive the Eucharist. Catholics who have been away from the Church for a long time or who are conscious of serious sin are encouraged to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation before receiving Communion. If you are unsure, we encourage you to speak with a priest.

If you are not receiving Communion, you are still welcome to come forward with your arms crossed to receive a blessing, or to remain prayerfully in your pew. We are grateful you are here with us.

  • How do I register at St. James?

Registering at St. James helps us welcome you more fully into parish life. It allows you to receive important parish communications, enroll children in Faith Formation, serve as a sponsor or godparent when needed, and stay connected to the life of the parish community.

You can register online through our parish registration form or contact the parish office for assistance. We would be honored to welcome you to our parish family.

  • How do I become Catholic?

Adults interested in becoming Catholic or learning more about the faith are invited to participate in OCIA, the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. Whether you are new to Christianity or simply curious about the Catholic faith, we would love to walk with you.

  • How do I get involved in parish life?

St. James offers many opportunities for prayer, service, fellowship, and faith formation. Whether you are looking to volunteer, join a prayer group, or simply meet others in the parish, there is a place for you here.

Visit our Ministry pages or grab a Ministry Contact sheet from the parish hall to talk to one of our ministry leaders and see how you can get started!

  • Do you offer programs for children and teens?

Yes. We offer faith formation, youth ministry, sacramental preparation, and community opportunities for children and teens throughout the year. Families can learn more on our Education pages.

  • How do I request a sacrament or schedule a meeting with a priest?

Please contact the parish office, and we will be happy to assist you. Whether you are seeking a sacrament, spiritual guidance, or pastoral care, we are here to help.
