What is Stewardship?

Stewardship is more than a practice; it is a way of life rooted in gratitude for all that God has given us. At its heart, stewardship involves time, talent, and treasure, three ways we participate in God’s work and serve His Church.

A Commitment of Time

Time is the gift of our presence. By committing time to prayer, worship, and service, we strengthen our relationship with God and with one another. Even quiet ministries of prayer are a vital contribution, as each moment spent interceding for and praying with each other benefits the wider community.

A Use of Talent

Talent is the unique ability and skills God has given each of us. When we use our talents in ministry, whether through teaching, leading, organizing, or serving, we build up the Church and help it flourish as a living community of faith.

A Sharing of Treasure

Treasure is the sharing of our material gifts. Generous giving supports the mission of the Church, sustains ministries, and ensures that the needs of the community are met, both within our parish and beyond.

At St. James, our ministries offer countless ways to live out stewardship in all three areas. Every commitment, whether through prayer, volunteering, or financial support, is a participation in the life of the Church. Through time, talent, and treasure, we join our brothers and sisters in Christ to strengthen our parish, serve our local community, and contribute to the wider Catholic Church throughout the world.
